The PSB Passif 50 Standmount Loudspeaker, an Anniversary Edition, combines retro charm with contemporary audio prowess. Crafted to celebrate 50 years of PSB Speakers, it echoes the legendary
Passif I and Passif II models. Immerse yourself in rich, true-to-nature sound with a touch of nostalgia and cutting-edge technology.
Our legacy of exceptional sound
PSB was built upon a foundation of performance and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence. The Passif
50 continues that legacy. Featuring a 1" titanium dome tweeter with ferrofluid damping and neodymium magnet, it crafts a wide, deep soundstage with exceptional imaging. The 6.5" woofer and 8" passive radiator ensure precise bass reproduction. This marriage of advanced technologies with a vintage-looking speaker design results in a harmonious audio experience, delivering True to Nature sound.
Honouring a heritage. Embracing the future.
While the Passif 50 pays homage to its classic predecessors, it introduces modern refinements. Sold in mirror-imaged pairs, this configuration elevates imaging precision with both tweeters strategically positioned inside the soundstage. Its heavily braced enclosure is meticulously designed, with mitered joints for enhanced fit and finish, minimizing cabinet vibrations. Including dual five-way binding posts allows for versatile bi-wiring or bi-amping options, quickly adapting to your preferred audio setup.
Backed by research and experience
The Passif 50 is a testament to PSB's five decades of acoustic research and design excellence. It promises tonal fidelity, spatial realism, and effortless dynamics at all volumes, representing years of audio innovation. Made for music lovers, this classic stand-mount speaker faithfully reproduces music as intended by the creators, ensuring pure, uncolored sound.
A vintage aesthetic and timeless design
The Passif 50's vintage elegance shines with its open-grained walnut veneer enclosure and magnetically attached woven cloth grille. Its warm walnut veneer enclosures, along with anniversary edition touches like a front grille pull tab featuring PSB’s original logo and a rear-panel plaque commemorating “Passif 50 – 1972-2022,” reflect its nostalgic charm. Coupled with state-of-the-art technology, this retro design pays homage to the past, welcomes the future, and delivers the quality you expect from PSB.

I’ve done a ton of research, for speakers within my budget. $1300-$3000 (pair), but learned very quickly it’s hard to hear what a speaker sounds like “reading” a review from someone who reviews speakers for a living, and tries to justify their existence by their colorful vocabulary! And to be honest, what might be “bright” or “warm” to someone else, may be a totally different flavor for you. After exhausting my brain, I pulled the trigger! Powered by a NAD C-3050 I could not be happier. And like two reviews I read, your vinyl will come alive! Even out performing Bluetooth or streaming. Thank you PSB

I still have, and use the 41 year old Passif II speakers I bought shortly after finishing my engineering degree.
At the time I also reviewed Polk, and another "flat" speaker. I've been happy with them ever since

I love this speaker. The details in the midrange are stunning. The bass is dry and precise. But what was initially lacking was a clearly defined three-dimensional sound space. The sound stage was there, but somewhat flat. The music was too ethereal, came from nowhere. I sensed that something was wrong. I took out the cheap bridges in the speaker terminals and connected the speaker with a bi-amping cable to the A/B speaker outputs of my amplifier and ran it in the A+B modus. The result was stunning, I am not exaggerating, trust me!. Other listeners also noted that the difference was striking. The sound stage was now projected holographically into the room. I fell in love with the speaker. It's musicality is outstanding. My recommendation: get rid of the golden metal bridges and connect the speaker via a bi-amping or a bi-wiring cable. You won't believe your ears when you hear what then happens. I love this speaker! Highly recommended

Did a lot of research on choosing the speaker with the characteristics I wanted. Decided these anniversary PSB’s were the one. Once set up, I was not disappointed. The bass is smooth, strong and deep. Overall these are not sharp or harsh speakers, they sound very comfortable on the ears if that makes sense. They don’t add unnecessary colour, and with the right source material and amp they are wonderful and sound well broken in and conditioned even after a few hours usage. And they look both vintage and stunning, like a pair of speakers you have been enjoying for the last 40+ years

Bought these a few months back and mainly due to their vintage looks, which I thought would look nice sitting next to my just acquired restored-to-mint NAD 3020 amplifier. I also had a Paradigm Defiance V10 I intended to use due to the small size of our music room and everyone was telling me get a sub otherwise you'll never sustain good bass in there. Well turns out everyone was wrong, that passive driver can deliver the delicate bass notes below 600Hz without a sliver of it ever bleeding into mid-bass, I was speechless, this is the sound I had been seeking for the last 40 years or so and finally it was there with us thanks to the perfect match between an exceptional amp and a no less exceptional speaker. Thank you PSB!

I bought these speakers earlier this year to pair nicely with a new NAD 3050LE. These are amazing speakers, delivering precisely the beautiful, refined sound I was looking for. I've paired them with a KEF 12b sub which integrates superbly with the help of the Dirac Live intrinsic to the NAD 3050LE. Overall, I can't recommend these speakers enough and I look forward to a lifetime of enjoyment from some very special kit.
