I recently got the PSB M4U9 headphones, and I have to say they are an outstanding pair for both casual listening and critical sessions. The first thing that stood out is the sound signature – balanced, natural, and incredibly detailed. The bass is tight and controlled without being overwhelming, mids are smooth and rich (vocals sound very lifelike), and the highs are crisp yet never harsh. It’s clear that PSB has stayed true to their reputation for accurate, room-like sound reproduction.
The noise cancellation works very well, blocking out daily background noise without introducing that “pressure” feeling some ANC headphones have. Transparency mode is also handy when I want awareness of my surroundings.
Comfort is another highlight. The ear pads are plush and breathable, making long listening sessions fatigue-free. Build quality feels premium – sturdy yet lightweight enough for travel. Battery life is excellent, easily lasting through several days of use, and the controls are intuitive.

I started years back with the M4U-2. Then got the original M4U-8 six years ago. Those finally gave out (broken headband) and I went for the 9's. As good as the 8s were, the 9s are clearly better still. Especially if you go through the process of calibration, the difference is substantial. One thing I really like is how now, as an Apple user, I am no longer wanting to use an external DAC/amp in order to listen to lossless music, the sound of 256 AAC over Bluetooth is so good that I'm very happy to stay wireless.
