Touching 7 decades. Had 3 or 4 systems over the years. One audiophile, with cables costing more than these little beauties.. moved and travelled last 2 decades. Hard on audio, finding myself system-less.. Moving once again, decided on putting small system together meant for small den type room.."hey younguns the rooms get smaller as we age." Oh the psb s alpha p3 stunned both myself and el wifo.. ceiling in joint I'm leaving near 25 ft. Yikes. And the little fellas got a nice listening area here. Cambridge axa 25 plus pre-amp and eq thru a Denon 300F WITH LP gear upgrade...nice...thru Pioneer cd player unbelievable..Billy Evans and Mott the Hoople never sounded better..but, when I put system together I wanted the Alpha 5s..Heard the 5s when an audiophile brought a pair out to the ole morgan ranch hooking um up to my expensive audiophile system. He heard about the crazy canooks selling great speakers for nothing..well almost nothing..200 smackers if memory serves..1999 or so.. I am serious, the 5s were almost as sweet as my 80 lb @ 2k towers..no kidding..my buddy thought it was cool.. I didn't smile. He steered me towards the 2k pair..hahaha..well, this spooked me. Plus the China audio invasion was starting and big buck equipment was losing blind tests.. i got out o audiophile systems. Until recently. The psb 3s would have been great, but kept thinking ummm i wonder how great the psb 5s would be..well they sound even better..
...oh, listened to some re mastered Steely Dan the other night...el wifo stated the new little system sounded better than my sim audio system...maybe. in short...u will not believe the sounds from a shoebox sized speaker..i'm keeping mine...who knows perhaps an amp with a b select will come my way...hope it's soon good grief I'm 70...good listening mi amigos..u don't have to spend a fortune for great 2 channel listening..

After a lifetime of listening to various stereo systems,at 60 years of age I was looking to have a minimalist system in a small spare bedroom, just to listen to vinyl records. After some online comparisons I went with the PSB Alpha P3’s, and am extremely happy with my choice.
While I am definitely not an audiophile, I have spent most of my life listening to a lot of music on decent stere systems. The speakers I listened to for the most time were JBL L56, which I parted with about 15 years ago. Now I live in a condo, and definitely am not trying to rattle the walls when I listen to music, but still appreciate full rich sound.
The P3,s were bought to be a smaller replacement for the stock speakers on an Onkyo mini system. I immediately noticed a big base improvement, even though the P3’s are a significantly smaller speaker. My wheels started turning, then I hooked theP3’s to my Marantz PM6004. Wow, did this ever bring these little speakers to life. They sound fantastic in a small room, and I am amazed that there is so much base coming from them. On certain records, I actually have to turn off the “source direct” setting on the amp to turn down the base a bit.
If you are looking for a small footprint speaker that still puts out great sound, definitely give the P3’s some strong consideration. If you buy them you will be very pleased.
